K.I. SAWYER -- The Cliffs Natural Resources company, RenewaFUEL, is getting ready to be fully operational in just a few weeks.

The company launched its new biomass production company at K.I. Sawyer in September.  The plant will process a new energy source in tiny cubes, which can be substituted for coal, and now officials say the company is in its commission phase.

They add that all of the equipment is in place, and the company is currently testing it.

They're looking forward to running their operation in the Sawyer area.

"It was a good fit for us; we have the close raw materials resources down the road, the different logging companies that are close by, and also to the close customer of Board of Light and Power," said General Manager Jack Bronson.

RenewaFUEL will produce cubes that generate the same amount of energy, with less harmful emissions.
