MARQUETTE -- The Marquette County Clerk will hold extended hours Saturday, April 9, and Wednesday, April 13, to help people get a passport.  The extended hours come from the department of state "Passport Days" initiative.

The clerk's office will be open Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Wednesday until 7 p.m.  The extra hours are designed to encourage those who have been thinking about getting a passport, but haven't had the time.

"By opening our office on a Saturday and extended hours on a Wednesday, and that is just for those specific days, the 9th and the 13th, that that will help the public get anything accomplished that they need to have accomplished by our office," said Deputy County Clerk, Linda Talsma.

To obtain a passport, you will need a vaild i.d. and birth certificate.

The cost is $135 for first time applicants and $105 for minors.
