The Michigan State Police are sending out a reminder that felony sex offenders have to register with local enforcement over the next 15 days to verify their current address.

If offenders fail to do so, they could face three months to four years in prison.

Offenders that were convicted of a misdemeanor have a yearly address verification between January 1 and January 15.  All sex offenders must notify local authorities of their new address within 10 days of moving.

Law enforcement officials will also be conducting random address checks to verify that offenders are complying with the law.
