ISHPEMING TOWNSHIP -- Aspen Ridge Middle Schools students were hard at work Monday preparing for their collage concert at the high school Tuesday night.

The concert will feature performances from students in 4th through 12th grades, in both vocal and instrumental pieces.
    
This is the sixth year for the collage concert but the first to feature a theme, "Music Around the World."  The concert will showcase band classes and ensembles that parents might not see at athletic activities.
    
Band Director Gordon Erickson says the concert can serve a dual purpose.

"It's great for the community to see the progression of musicianship..., but it's also good for the young musicians to see high schoolers and see where all this work and effort is going," said Erickson.

The collage concert will take place in the Westwood High School gym at 7 p.m. and is open to the public.
