IRON MOUNTAIN -- A new event with a little extra taste will be making its way to the Iron Mountain Home, Yard, and Sport Show in April.

Iron Mountain Main Street and the Downtown Development are sponsoring the first annual Pasties and Pies Fest.  Both local businesses and individuals are asked to make their best pasty or pie for the event.

It's a $25 entry fee for businesses and $10 for homemade items.  The money raised will be split between improving the downtown business district and a local charity.

"I think it's just a great time just to bring people together," said Iron Mountain Main Street Coordinator Jonathan Ringel.  "It's a good time to gather and it's a good time to celebrate things that help make you a unique location, and certainly our wonderful pasty heritage and wonderful pies that are made by people here in the Upper Peninsula is just another great reason to get together."

The registration deadline is March 25.
