UPPER PENINSULA -- Another round of light snow and flurries greeted many across Upper Michigan Tuesday, and it was another balmy start as well.
Changes are coming within the next 24 hours, though.
A winter storm, readying itself in the southern plains, will start to lift towards the U.P. Tuesday night, totally clouding up the skies overnight and keeping temperatures in the upper 20s. By mid-morning, the snow will start in earnest across the southern counties, and moderately heavy snow will spread across the whole U.P. during the afternoon. Winds out of the east will keep temperatures close to the freezing mark, meaning the snow will be wet, heavy stuff.
Thursday morning will see some lingering snow showers early in the day and mainly across the northern tiers. By the time they clear out Thursday afternoon, western counties will receive anywhere from three to five inches, with five to eight inches falling over the eastern half of the U.P.
This won't be the last shot of wintery weather we get this week, though. Another round of snow is on the way for the weekend--get a look at that by heading over to our weather page.
