IRON MOUNTAIN -- The winter storm that is dropping dozens of inches of snow across the Midwest has had little effect on Ford Airport in Iron Mountain.

The airport staff was preparing for delays this week due to potential snow in the area and snowfall in other areas.

Ford Airport has daily flights to Detroit, which received more than a foot of snow this week.

With the exception of one late arriving flight from Detroit Wednesday night, all flights have been on time to and from the airport this week.

“We know how the wind can shift here and in other areas,” said Ford Airport Manager Tim Howen.  “We sure didn't want our passengers to be distressed here.  We want everybody to get out to their destination and on time so we were relieved that that happened.”

Ford Airport is coming off one of its best months on record in January with passenger traffic increasing 30 percent.
