MARQUETTE -- It's business as usual Thursday afternoon at Marquette General Hospital after Wednesday's partial lockdown.
The hospital decided to lock all but five of their entrances due to their close proximity to Northern Michigan University's campus.
Officials say the hospital began following their emergency protocol steps just after 9 a.m., shortly after NMU administration notified the hospital of the threat.
Members of the Risk Management Committee are pleased with how the event was handled.
"I think it was exceptional," said Director of Safety, Alyson Sundberg. "We had all of the right managers and senior leadership in the room by 9:15 a.m. They were all briefed, and we sent updates roughly every hour and a half throughout the day to, I believe, it's a little bit more than 2,100 employees."
Marquette General Hospital conducts a minimum of two drills every year to ensure employees are ready to react in these types of situations.
