HOUGHTON -- An intersection of US-41 near Michigan Tech was closed for a period of time after two cars collided just before 8 p.m. Wednesday.

No one was seriously injured, but both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

The cars were traveling in opposite directions on US-41 and crashed as one driver attempted to make a left turn onto MacInnes Drive.

Officials believe both vehicles ran a red light.

Tech Public Safety, Houghton City Police, the Houghton County Sheriff's Office and Mercy EMS responded to the scene.

The accident was cleared by 8:30 p.m.
