MARQUETTE COUNTY -- Kennecott's decision to change its transportation plans leaves the fate of County Road 595 uncertain.

The Marquette County Road Commission was in the process of creating an agreement with Kennecott about the development of County Road 595, however, they no longer plan for that agreement to be completed.

The commission did favor the development of the road but says the funding that was once there, is now gone.

"We believe County Road 595 is in the county's best interest, and I believe that's the way we're moving forward," said MCRC Engineer Jim Iwanicki.  "If County Road 595 is not going to be built we think that is going to effect the county negatively, not only for this project, but other projects in that area."

The commission will be meeting as a board on Monday to decide what the next step for the county is.
