BESSEMER -- Despite the burning of the main lodge at the Big Powderhorn Mountain Resort in Bessemer Thursday, business was expected to be good for the weekend.
And that's primarily because conditions were perfect. The resort had around 38 inches of snow on the hill on Friday.
The ski lodge was expected to be about 80 percent full, with up to 900 skiers hitting the slopes.
"We're skiing the day 'cause we had the plans, and we knew they were open 'cause we called to double check and make sure that they were open and running today. We come up every year 'cause it's a lot of family memories," said Julie Meyer of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Management at the ski resort say if there is ever a time to support the resort, this would be it.
