Jason Asselin getting national attention
IRON MOUNTAIN -- When Iron Mountain resident Jason Asselin started a Facebook page for Gabrielle Giffords, he didn't expect it to take off the way it has.
Congresswoman Giffords was shot last Saturday, and at 1 p.m. Central Time, Asselin started the Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords Prayers Page on Facebook. By Saturday evening, Asselin said the page had thousands of members, but it has grown since then.
"When I started the page, I never expected it to get to 30,000," said Asselin. "I just wanted to give people a place to put prayers and thoughts."
With the number of people following the page growing more and more each day, Asselin would like to find some way to turn the page over to the family. He stated this in a recent video he posted on YouTube.
"All I want is for this message to get to the family," Asselin said.
