Students packed the gym at Lakeview School in Negaunee for an assembly in honor of Veterans Day.
    
The assembly included Veterans Day skits, the pledge of allegiance, and a speech by a member of the National Guard.
    
Music for the event was provided by the Negaunee High School Jazz Band and members of the Lakeview Chorus.

"Veterans Day is one of the most important days of the year, and we try to instill that in our students here at Lakeview School.  In an effort to do that, we make sure there are lessons taught throughout the week before Veterans Day so that when they come to our assemblies, they're prepared and know exactly why they're here," said Lakeview School Assistant Principal, Kellie Boase.

Students had the chance to decorate the gym before the event with handmade poppies and chains, each link representing a veteran they know.
