IRON MOUNTAIN -- Getting teenagers more active in the community and relating with each other were two of the themes at the Dickinson Iron Healthy Youth Coalition in Iron Mountain Tuesday.
The 12th annual event at Bay West College featured more than 120 students from 7 school districts in Dickinson, Iron, and Marinette Counties.
The program has proven to be very beneficial for local students.
"It's important for students to be here because we learn more about the assets that help us develop as youth," said Kingsford junior, Darin Martin
"It's great to be able to come to a summit like this and meet kids from all over the U.P. that are having the same problems that you are and be able to feed off of each other," added Kingsford senior, Beau LaFave.
Students also focused on suicide prevention at the workshop and what can be done to help.
