HANCOCK -- The Hancock man who allegedly tried to hit another man with a tree branch was arraigned in circuit court on Wednesday.

A not guilty plea was entered on behalf of 28-year-old Joshua Allan Matson.

Matson is facing one count of assault with a dangerous weapon, which is a felony punishable by up to four years in prison.

The prosecutor told the judge both parties were currently working towards an agreement and should have a deal finalized for Matson's pretrial hearing on December 3.
