MARQUETTE -- Student nurses at Northern Michigan University do more than help sick patients, they help out the community as well.

The third annual Charity Ball was held recently at the Landmark Inn.  The semi-formal event featured dinner, dancing, and the favorite silent auction with various donated prizes.

Not only was it a great opportunity for the students to get out of the classroom and show off their program, it also raised money for a good cause.

All of the proceeds went towards the U.P. Children's Museum.

"The Children's Museum is a great asset for the community.  I love to take my niece and nephew there, and I know the funding has been cut, state funding, so that's just what we decided to support this year," said SNA President, Peter Skellenger.

More than 150 people attended this year's ball.
