MANISTIQUE -- A close call for a Manistique resident after a fire almost broke out in their garage.  Firefighters with Manistique Public Safety were called out to 803 Manistique Avenue Monday morning.

A neighbor had noticed smoke rolling out from the garage of the Donald Leonard residence.  There, it was found that the stove pipes on a lighted wood stove had fallen off because of age.

The situation was quickly brought under control, and no damage was done to the garage or home.
