ISHPEMING TWP. -- Dancing, singing, and acting...that's what NICE Community School students are doing in preparation for their upcoming performance.

But this show will be different than the ones in the past.

Rehearsal began Sunday for the concert led by the Young Americans.  The traveling tour stops all over the globe to teach kids a routine and put on a performance.

More than 125 students in grades 3 through 12 attended a five-hour dance workshop Sunday to learn the opening number.  Directors say it's a great way to keep music alive in the classroom.

"In so many different schools, with budget cuts and everything, music and the arts is usually the first thing to get cut," says associate director Bruce Sampson.  "We know from first hand experience what music and the arts specifically can do for kids' self esteem and just for them being well rounded citizens and individuals."

The concert will be held this Tuesday, October 5 at the Westwood High School gym.  It begins at 7 p.m.
