SAGOLA -- A Kingsford High School student can now say he did something not many other hunters have.

Sophomore Dalton Allen shot a six-point piebald buck during a youth hunt last week.

Piebalds naturally have a brown and white spotting pattern.  Less than five percent of the deer population in Michigan are piebalds.

Dalton shot the buck at his family's camp in Sagola.  He had seen the piebald on his trail camera for months and was excited when he got his opportunity.

“Well, I was just sitting in my post and watching some other smaller bucks and just waiting for a bigger one to come, and out came the piebald,” said Allen.  “I took a shot at it and dropped it.”

The piebald is at the taxidermist so Dalton and his family can appreciate his trophy.
