As details are being leaked, the connections, the plot, and the twist, are all creating a larger interest in the film.

ISHPEMING -- If you've been to the movies recently, you may have seen a trailer for a new documentary called "Catfish."

In that trailer, a group of men take a road-trip to Michigan, to the U.P. in fact.

But as details are being leaked about the movie, the connections, the plot, and the twist, are all creating a larger interest in the film.

It's truly an interesting premise for a feature film in the 21st century: boy meets girl over the Internet, and after talking to her for several months, decides to travel hundreds of miles to see her.

The whole thing was caught on tape, from the start of their relationship, to the actual encounter at her Ishpeming home.

At first glance of the trailer, it could be a romantic comedy, until it looks to be more of a thriller, and the end of this trailer leaves you in suspense, wondering what happens to the New Yorker who came to the U.P., to meet the girl he's fallen in love with.

The three filmmakers appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres show earlier this week to talk about how what they thought was harmless fun, actually turned into an unpredictable nightmare.

"When you decided to go and meet her, that was a bit shocking, you got something totally different than what you expected?" DeGeneres asked.

"Yeah, the whole journey was not what we expected at all, it sort of just developed as we went along," the men answered.

On The Ellen Show, the men also downplayed the frightening image of the movie that you get from the trailer shown below.

They claim that it is, in fact, a 'true' documentary.

And if you're probably wondering, where is the Ishpeming woman involved in all of this?

TV6 found the phone number of the woman listed in the cast of the movie, but when we contacted her, she only responded with 'no comment.'

The movie is being released in select theaters Friday.

We expect to see it in up sometime in the weeks ahead.

From the movie's main website, there is a place where you can request that the movie be brought to local theaters sooner.
