DELTA COUNTY -- The Upper Peninsula Power Company is looking for a buyer for one, or all three, of their hydroelectric dams on the Escanaba River.

They include Dam 1, located near the mouth of the river, Dam 3, just north of the New Page Paper Mill in Escanaba, and Dam 4, which makes the Boney Falls Impoundment.

If UPPCO cannot find a buyer at fair price, the company will consider whether they should continue operations as a FERC project, surrender the license and sell them to anyone willing to keep the dams without generating electricity, or look at abandoning and removing the dams.
