CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP -- Thunderstorms that rolled across Upper Michigan Thursday night are being blamed for a house fire in Chocolay Township.
Police say a lightning strike is believed to be the cause of a fire that started at a house on Cherry Creek Road in Chocolay Township Thursday evening. The fire started around eight o'clock.
Chocolay, Marquette, and Sands Township Fire Departments were all on the scene.
It's not believed that there were any injuries from the fire.
There's no word on a damage estimate, but it appears firefighters were able to get the fire under control to prevent the home from being destroyed.
