MARQUETTE -- The City of Marquette is asking for the public's feedback on the proposed Heartwood Forestlands Project.

The Marquette City Commission will be holding a work session next week in conjunction with surrounding municipalities regarding plans for the Heartwood Forestlands.

An ad hoc committee made recommendations for the area back in February, but City Planner Dennis Stachowicz says this is an opportunity for the public to share their comments about the plan.

"What we would hope to happen is that we could have a dialogue with Marquette and Sands Townships and also the public about the recommendation in this plan so we can all say, hey you know what, this is something that we think we can work towards as a common goal toward implementation in this community," said Dennis Stachowicz, Marquette City Planner.

The meeting will be held Wednesday, May 26 at 7 p.m. at the citizen's forum in Lakeview Arena.
