MARQUETTE -- Some younger athletes took to the turf in the Superior Dome in Marquette Sunday, to kick, not carry the ball.

The annual travel soccer rally was for Marquette youth travel soccer teams.  The league has players from ages eight to eighteen.

Members of the NMU Men's and Women's soccer teams were on hand to teach the players some drills.

"They're (the travel players) excited to be here with the NMU teams to learn skills to see where they can go in the future.  It's a new season; we have players that have been playing for years, we have new players that are learning what goes on in travel soccer," said travel manager, Jeff Collins.

There was also a coaches clinic, and players learned how to prevent injuries.

The league travels throughout the U.P., downstate, and Wisconsin.
