Campaigning begins for governorship

Michigan House Speaker Andy Dillon made several stops in the U.P. this weekend, campaigning for the governorship this November.

MARQUETTE -- Michigan House Speaker Andy Dillon made several stops in the U.P. this weekend, campaigning for the governorship this November.

The Redford Township Democrat says Michigan's economic problems are fixable, and several already strong industries, like research and development, can help.

He says he feels his business background can help the state start to recover.

"This selection shouldn't be about Republicans or Democrats or business or labor.  We're all in the same boat here, and we've got to start working together as a state, so, let's all fight for the future."

Dillon says he can save the state money, pointing to several recent bills he helped pass like the 21st century jobs bill and energy reform.
