Authorities investigate Iron Mountain fire

IRON MOUNTAIN -- Thursday, March 25, 2010 at 4:40 p.m.

Authorities responded to a 911 call of smoke with a possible person inside at 826 East A Street in Iron Mountain around 12:30 p.m. CST, Thursday afternoon. Two officers forced entry into the home and noticed that a fire had occurred but was not active.

Police didn't find a person in the house, but an interior window was broken out and there was blood close by. After searching the property police found a woman in the garage next to the house. The woman was inside of a car and had suffered numerous cuts.

She was transported to Dickinson County Healthcare System and treated for her injuries.

A State Fire Marshall is assisting in the investigation of the fire's source.

Iron Mountain police and fire departments responded to a house fire around 12:30 p.m. CST, Thursday afternoon, at 826 East A Street in Iron Mountain.

The fire was extinguished and under control quickly by the fire department. TV6's Iron Mountain Kingsford Bureau Reporter, Aaron Martin, was on the scene and witnessed the police and paramedics investigate a garage next to the house.

The garage was not effected by the fire.

Later, a woman appeared to be removed from the garage on a stretcher and taken to the hospital. There is no word her condition.

The Iron Mountain Police Department said they are investigating the fire and waiting for the fire marshal's report before moving on.
