MARQUETTE -- It's become an annual tradition for the Marquette Area Blues Society.

Each year, the Dog Days of Winter Blues Bash takes place following the start of the UP 200 race.  This year, Sharrie Williams and her band will return to Marquette.

"So we decided to bring her back to Marquette, and people that remember the name Sharrie Williams know that it's a great night to get out and dance and enjoy some great music," described Walt Lindala, the Outreach Coordinator for the Marquette Area Blues Society.

The band features drums, bass, piano, and vocals.  Their music is described as a mix of funk, rock, and blues.  Those looking for a fun night of dancing will be satisfied.

"One of the things that Sharrie Williams has always had is a great band of musicians with her.  Every time that she has come to the Marquette area in the past, and as she's touring out there now, she has world class musicians with them.  Just from that standpoint alone, it'll be an entertaining show.  But they really work to entertain the crowd, get them moving and people having a good time.  That is their number one focus.  Upbeat, energetic, a lot of fun, and it should be a great night," Lindala stated.

You can check out Sharrie Williams and her band on Friday, Feb. 19 at The Mix in Marquette.  Tickets only cost $5 and the show begins at 8:30 p.m.
