MARQUETTE -- They're not in Marquette yet, but the image of sled dogs set to race in the UP 200 are being printed on this year's race apparel.

The Screened Image and Graphic Design in Downtown Marquette, which has made the shirts every year, printed 1,000 shirts and long-sleeve t-shirts and sweatshirts for next week's events.

The 20th anniversary logo was chosen by the race committee from ideas designed and donated by a class of students at Northern Michigan University.

"It's a hand-in-hand thing," explained Lorrie Hayes, owner of Screened Image.  "We help them, they help us, they keep it local.  We look forward to this happening at this time of year, because it's our February shot in the arm."

The shirts can be purchased at headquarters at the Holiday Inn and the Yellow Snow Ball this Friday night at Upfront and Company.
