Jeramia Berger will spend nine months in jail.
IRON MOUNTAIN -- An Iron Mountain man will spend time in jail for attempting to accost a minor for immoral purposes and furnishing alcohol to a minor.
Thirty-two-year-old Jeramia Berger was sentenced Monday morning to nine months in the Dickinson County Jail. He will also be on probation for two years and must register as a sex offender.
Berger spoke very briefly in court saying only that he is sorry for what he did.
Judge Richard Celello granted Berger work release while in jail which Dickinson County Prosecutor Stephanie Brule strongly opposed.
"I don't believe that work release for a person convicted of attempted accosting of a minor is appropriate," stated Brule. "I just don't think that sends the right message to the community that you can do something like this and then basically get out for work."
Berger will also have to repay over $1,000 in fines.
