CALUMET -- Michigan Tech's Winter Driving School is back in session this weekend.
For the past 12 years, instructors from the Keweenaw Research Center have opened up a special track to teach local drivers how to safely handle snow and ice.
From turning into a skid to preventing spin-outs, participants spend a full day of learning in the classroom and behind the wheel.
The lessons are open to all drivers, even teens who only have permits.
"It’s good practice for everybody, even people who’ve lived up here their entire lives,” said instructor Mark Osborne. “I haven't met anyone who hasn't gotten something from this class."
The one-day course, which costs $150, will be offered weekly starting Saturday, January 23.
