GWINN -- Gwinn Middle School was bustling Monday and it's all because the students were making someone's holiday season special.

It's called Spreading the Cheer and it's the seventh year for the event.  The entire school participates by creating holiday gift bags for those in need.  They include items like ornaments, holiday cards, and Christmas decorations.

Monday, the students hand delivered the bags and also sang Christmas carols.

"It makes yourself feel good cause you see the joy that it brings to people who don't always have so much to look forward to during the holiday season," said eighth grader, Owen Devooght.  "It's important because people think Christmas is just about giving gifts to family members--mom, dad, grandma, grandpa--but it's other people, too."

Fifty-four deserving families received the caring gifts.

School officials expect to receive plenty of thank you cards in the coming weeks.
