Weather proves to be too much for Copper Country ski hills.
HOUGHTON -- The weather was a little too wet and a little too white for Copper Country ski hills this weekend, which had to cancel their fall color tours.
People who arrived at Mount Ripley on Sunday expecting to admire the fall foliage were instead met with empty lifts and snow-covered hillsides.
The annual Color Tour was called off due to inclement weather, but residents will be able to return to take the tour next weekend.
"You never know what Mother Nature's going to do," said operations manager Kevin McClellan. "You never know if you're going to get leaves or snow; it's just hit or miss."
The tour costs five dollars and benefits the Mount Ripley Ski Patrol and Mount Ripley Ski Team.
