Duluth man riding bike across the U.S. to raise awareness for DAV chapters
MARQUETTE -- Paul Halverson is making a 4,000-mile trek from Everett, Washington to Bangor, Maine.
On the 4th of July, Halverson made a stop in Marquette. He is raising awareness of Disabled American Veteran chapters.
Halverson is a little more than half-way through his journey. Along the way, he has met up with DAV chapters in seven states.
Halverson is also raising money, but that isn't his main focus for riding across the country.
"The more veterans that sign up and the more veterans that join DAV chapters, the stronger the voice you're going to hear," said 62-year-old Paul Halverson. "If there was any one change (I could make), it would be getting the younger veterans involved into the DAV."
Halverson hopes to conclude his trip sometime in August, leaving awareness for the DAV along his trail.
