Two people were taken into custody.
ISHPEMING -- Two people have been arrested following a police standoff in Ishpeming Friday morning. It started just after 9 a.m. in the 100 block of East Superior Street.
Ishpeming police were told the man in the home had a gun and threatened to kill a woman and several children inside. Police locked down Ishpeming High School because the home is just a block away.
Ishpeming Police Detective Dan Willey had to forcibly remove the woman from the home and in the process was assaulted.
Police surrounded the house and less than an hour later, the suspect inside came out without incident.
The man was taken to Marquette General for evaluation. He'll then go to jail awaiting charges. His name is not being released pending his arraignment.
The woman, 25-year-old Amanda Newman, is in jail for allegedly assaulting a police officer. Police did find two guns inside the home.
