MARQUETTE -- The nation's gloomy financial forecast hasn't slowed down too many U.P. outdoor sport enthusiasts.  Instead, it has made them savvy shoppers.

Saturday, Nordic skiers looking to save money attended the Superiorland Annual Cross Country Ski Swap.  The event is an opportunity for skiers to find good deals on equipment and apparel.

"I think the swap is definitely busy this year--we always have a good turnout though.  People understand the value of buying skis in this manner and it's also sort of a social event," said Carrie Pearon, President of Superiorland Ski Club.

In the past, the Superiorland Ski Club has raised as much as $15,000 from the one-day ski swap, and they are hoping to reach that point this year.
