HOUGHTON -- Some good news from an automaker.  The Chrysler Foundation has approved three grants for Michigan Tech, totaling $118,000.

Money will be split between several engineering groups including the SAE advanced motorsports enterprise, which consists of six undergraduate student teams, developing six vehicles.

Student leaders say 90 percent of enterprise funding comes from corporate sponsorship.

"It really helps just give us money for trips, go places, and also certain parts.  Students from the vehicle teams involved with the SAE competition and Eco-car, most of them end up with multiple job offers," said Eco-car Enterprise Adam Bono.

The grant money will also go toward scholarships, the youth in engineering and science expo, and other engineering programs.
