MARQUETTE -- Marquette police have identified two suspects involved in stealing a wallet at the Wild Rover last week, and they say social media played a big role in assisting with the investigation.

The surveillance video we aired last Friday showing a young woman working with a man wearing a backpack to steal a wallet from the bar. Marquette police posted the video on their newly created Facebook page.

Within the first 24 hours, the video had more than 6,000 views.

"In this day and age with social media and people so active on it, we can send out information that people need instantly and can give us feedback instantly so if we have any information to get out to the public with the click of a button, they have it," said Captain Gordon Warchock of the Marquette Police Department.

The investigation into the wallet theft is still ongoing. Marquette police only created their Facebook page a few weeks ago. They plan to continue using it and hope to expand their reach.
