MARQUETTE TWP. -- One local car wash is not just for vehicles anymore. The Wilderness Car Wash location on US-41 in Marquette Township recently added a dog wash area.
It is a separate room attached to the car wash where pet owners can bring their canine friend to get cleaned up. There is a wash tub and a hose that provides the shampoo, conditioner, and de-skunking soap.
Mason Moyle, an employee of the car wash, explained why the feature was added.
"There's a lot of dogs in the community, so we figured this would be a perfect place for pets to get washed," said Moyle. "A lot of people don't like making a mess in their house bathrooms and cleaning up after their dog after a tub, so we figured this would be a perfect place."
Customers can also pick up a treat for their dog. The cleaning area is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
It costs seven dollars for a wash. Right now, the dog wash is only available at the Wilderness Car Wash location in Marquette Township, but employees hope they can expand to their other locations across the U.P.
