DICKINSON COUNTY -- Dickinson County commissioners brought in the new year by taking their oaths of office on Wednesday.

The commissioners were sworn in early Wednesday morning, including a new addition to the board, Barb Kramer. County commissioners are responsible for the county budgets and oversee that all county committees and departments are running smoothly.

Kramer is the first new commissioner to be elected in almost eight years.

"It's going to be an adjustment period for all of us, but I think because the board has worked so well together in the past that we will continue to work well," said Kramer. "I believe in collaboration and cooperation, and we all have the best interest of the county in mind."

Kramer had first run for Dickinson County Commissioner in 2010, but was unsuccessful. She continued campaigning and is happy to see all three years of hard work pay off.
