MARQUETTE -- The U.P. Children's Museum is holding their ninth annual celebrity art auction on Thursday evening, which is part of their end of the year annual fundraising campaign.

More than 30 local celebrities, who are not artists, are testing their creative skills by making a piece of art. That artwork is going to be auctioned at the event.

Officials say the event grows more and more each year--they're expecting to see more than 200.

"We are deeply appreciative of all these people who do these things, that they create these things that are out of their comfort zones," said Nheena Weyer Ittner, museum director. "They then come to the events and they help the museum."

Viewing is at 5:30 p.m., and the auction is at 7:30. There will be wine and food at the event.

The museum hopes to raise more than $13,000 to help pay for the operations of the museum.
