Icy roads cause vehicle to crash into power pole

NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP -- An icy road Sunday morning caused a crash that took down power lines and closed a state highway.

It happened just after 7 a.m. Sunday morning on M-35 in Negaunee Township.

The driver was heading south on M-35 by Grimes Road when they lost control and hit a utility pole. The pole broke and electric lines were laying in the road.

M-35 was closed for a couple of hours while the power pole was replaced.

The driver was not injured, however, they were ticketed for driving too fast for conditions.
