FORSYTH TOWNSHIP -- Christina Dennessen, a former secretary-office employee in Forsyth Township, was sentenced on Friday for embezzlement.

Dennessen appeared in Marquette County Circuit Court on Friday and was given three years probation so she could work and pay restitution to Forsyth Township. Dennessen and her husband are currently re-locating to the State of Washington.

Judge Thomas Solka explained how this poses a unique problem in the court's sentencing.

"It becomes complicated with you living in the State of Washington, not impossible, but it would mean Forsyth Township having to enroll the judgment of collection with the State of Washington and then enforcing it in the State of Washington, all at great expense to the victim of the crime," said Judge Solka. 

Dennessen has until June 1 to pay back the township. If she fails to pay the $15,000 in full, it could result in a violation of her probation and she could face nine months of jail time.
