KEWEENAW COUNTY -- The first ever Cobble Gobble 8K run-walk is scheduled for Saturday in Keweenaw County.

The race will take you through the woods, a beaver dam, and toward the mouth of Gratiot River. The event costs $30 to register, and the race starts at 10 a.m.

"You can walk or run," said race director Kate Griffith. "I know that I ran cross country and I always really like running through the woods on a trail. The weather is supposed to be actually nice, like mid-40s, no snow, sunshine. So, you know, for this time of year that's pretty awesome and just come out and support land conservation in the Keweenaw."

The money raised will go towards the North Woods Conservancy's efforts to save 32 acres of land northwest of Ahmeek, known as Seven Mile Point.

North Woods Conservancy is a non-profit land preservation organization. For more information on the race location, check out the Cobble Gobble website.
