ISHPEMING -- Project Keep Kids Warm held its free shopping and distribution day Saturday.

Hundreds of people came to the Ishpeming National Guard Armory to take home some free winter clothes.

There were all kinds of clothes available in all sizes.

The project collected more than 6,000 clothing items.

Immanuel Lutheran Church in Negaunee and Wesley United Methodist Church in Ishpeming lead the clothing drive.

"We're always happy when there's a good turnout," said Richard Derby, project chairman. "We're also happy when we have something to give and the citizens of Ishpeming and Negaunee have been very, very generous as always."

Any leftover clothes are donated to various schools and organizations.
