ONTONAGON COUNTY -- A Bruce Crossing funeral home director, accused of fraud, appeared in court on Tuesday.

Thomas Wandersee of the Wandersee Funeral Home was arrested in September by the Michigan State Police on an 18 count felony warrant. Wandersee waived his preliminary hearing Tuesday in Ontonogan County District Court. He was bonded over to Circuit Court. His next court appearance has not been scheduled. He remains free on bond.

Wandersee allegedly embezzled approximately $55,000 from prepaid funeral contracts.

A two month investigation identified numerous victims, but police said there could be more. If you purchased a prepaid funeral contract from Wandersee Funeral Home and believe you've been defrauded, you're asked to contact the Michigan State Police.
