Residents evacuated in early morning fire

IRONWOOD -- A fire broke out in an apartment building in Ironwood early Saturday morning, causing residents to evacuate. No injuries have been reported, police said.

The fire started around 5:30 a.m. on Saturday at a building located at 222 E. Aurora St.  The scene was cleared an hour later. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. There is no word on damage to the building.

Public Safety Officers, the Ironwood Volunteer Fire Department, Hurley Fire Department and Beacon Ambulance responded to the scene. Red Cross is also providing assistance to the fire victims.
