Meth cooking results in brush fire

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP -- The Michigan State Police are investigating a brush fire that they believe was started during an attempt to cook meth.

Authorities responded to a call at around 8:10 a.m. when methamphetamine components were discovered in a wooded area of Marquette Township near Forestville Road.

The Marquette Township Fire Department discovered the materials after responding to a brush fire that was roughly 1,000 square feet in size.

The Michigan State Police are continuing to investigate, but have no suspects at this time.
