ISHPEMING -- The first presidential debate is set to go on Wednesday night and it's important to know the facts.

What should you be thinking when you're watching the debate?

Experts say you first want to have an open mind and an understanding of some of the topics they'll be discussing, and Wednesday the debate is on domestic policy starting with the economy.

Experts also say you should look past the fluff. Each candidate will have their opinion, but does it logically make sense to you?

"They give you at least a view for what they're going to do, that's an important thing," said Westwood High School teacher Eric Hill. "When a candidate says 'I'm going to create new jobs.' We think it's a great idea that he's going to create new jobs, but if he doesn't tell us how I mean that's a question that's a red flag that should go up in your mind and you should demand an answer."

He also recommends after watching the debate turn off your television, radio and computer. You want to take some time to think about what was said, and if you agree without being swayed.
