MARQUETTE -- For many, the Marquette Senior Center is a home away from home. Those who already go there enjoy it, according to coordinator, Jane Palmer.
"They have often said, you know, they look at this as something they look forward to every morning when they wake up, and that's what I like to hear. That's what we like to continue offering in our services," said Palmer.
Each day there is a fitness class, lunch, and games.
Members of the Northern Center for Lifelong Learning saw firsthand what's offered.
"It provides avenues for socialization, talking with people, sharing information. I just like opportunities to laugh, love, live, and be with people," said NCLL member, Eric Rehorst.
The center also has on site social workers to help seniors with their health care concerns. They also offer case management, where they help individuals continue living a safe, independent life.
Any elderly person from Marquette County can join the center. It's in the lower level of City Hall and is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
As the course came to an end, many folks said they knew about the center but didn't know what they had to offer. Folks said after the tour, they can't wait to participate in activities.
