MARQUETTE -- No arrests yet, but the investigation continues into illegal drugs being smuggled into the Marquette Branch Prison.

The failed attempt happened Monday night between 8 and 9 p.m., in a wooded area on prison property.

Michigan State Police and corrections department officials say a female tried to throw illegal drugs over the fence to a prisoner inside. Along with the female suspect, there were three males inside a parked car at a nearby business parking lot.

All were taken into custody and later released. No names are available.

Corrections officials also say an inmate's cell was searched, and what appeared to be illegal drugs were found.

They also say an incident similar to what happened Monday night is unusual for the Marquette prison, which is considered a very secure facility.
